My first day at Haluoleo University by Rezki Aulia Hendarta

          When I was at Haluoleo University, I felt very nervous and doubt because it was the new experience for me as a university student. I felt coming in the new situation that I had not experienced before. The first thing that I saw at first day was the different situation. There were many buildings which different from my school building at senior high school. There were many students who put on free clothes. It was different from senior high school. I put on uniform when I was at senior high school. Then, I tried to recognize more detail about my new campus, even though I had been described by my seniors when I was freshmen orientation. After that, I sought my new friends who joined same class with me. I felt happy because I met many new friends. I used the first day to seek a lot of friends because I knew that there were students from various ethnics around the Southeast Sulawesi, whereas I was from Java. I was strongly interested to know and comprehend the Southeast Sulawesi culture from my new friends. I realized that I had to adapt to all of my new friends. Because I would face difficult situation next time if I did not adapt well. After we had introduced one another, we faced the first university lecture namely IIC. There were six lecturers for IIC subject. Thus, the first lecturer who gave us the first lecture was Mr.Firdaus Saleh. He explained about IIC to us. He said that IIC was the basic subject of English department curriculum and influenced our motivation. Therefore, he suggested that we had to study hard. Mr. Firdaus also said that we had to get A or B for IIC subject because we would find bad academic cumulative if we got C or D even E. From his elaboration, I
could understand that IIC was the important subject of English education study program curriculum, and could influence my academic result. Besides that, he also told us how to follow the lectures, about mid or final exam, academic schedule etc. it was indeed, at first day, as university student I felt very different academic situation from senior high school to be a university student. At senior high school I was regulated without doing and understanding the process. But as a university student, I regulated academic procedure, schedule, and process by my self. I also used the first day at Haluoleo University to recognize my seniors. I believed that my seniors could give me some information that I needed to face my academic affairs as a student of English study program. The first senior who I knew at the first day was Muhari. He gave me some important information such as the lectures, the lecturer characters, The English education study program association student. He also invited me to visit library so I received. In the library, there were many students who I saw reading thesis but the important book which I wanted to read was journal that described about Haluoleo University. After I found and read the journal, I became to know that Haluoleo University is the biggest and popular university in Southeast Sulawesi. Therefore, i increased proud to be a student at this university. The first day at Haluoleo University was the basic time to get the best time from this campus. I felt I come in a suitable place to explore my knowledge, talent, ability and personality at this university. After I had experienced the whole of my first day at Haluoleo University, I promised that I will pass and get my degree from this university as a proud university of Southeast Sulawesi.
