Find a Good Topic

To find good topic for an argument essay you should consider several issues that will have two conflicting points of view or very different conclusions. As you look over a list of topics you should find one that really sparks your interest.

Why it is Important to Learn English

The English language is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, second only to Mandarin. Typical foods of Southeast Sulawesi

I am Javanese but I was born in Kendari. Even though, I am Javanese I know a little about typical foods of Southeast Sulawesi. I can mention sinonggi that is famous typical food of Kendari. Sinonggi is made from sago. And sago derived from sago tree. We should peel the sago tree until smooth. After that sago is filtered to get concentrate. Then, we can use sago to make sinonggi. We should mix sago with hot water in making sinonggi. Sinonggi is also served with fish generally white fish in order that the taste can be suitable. Sinonggi is the most popular food for Tolakinese and Kabaenanese. Eating sinonggi also becomes a symbol of kinship. The other typical food of Southeast Sulawesi is tuna. Tuna is plentiful in the sea of Southeast Sulawesi. One of the most popular methods of cooking the tuna, there is dousing it with lime juice and grilling it. It can then be enjoyed with a coconut milk sauce seasoned with shallots, finely sliced lemon grass and sour fruit or belimbing sayur, the usual souring agent. Actually there are many people like the typical foods from Southeast Sulawesi like my friend from east Java who had visited me last year. He was very enjoyable when I served him the dishes such as sinonggi, tuna bake, coconut ice etc. when I asked my friend what he liked about the typical foods of Southeast Sulawesi.  Working on campus is fast becoming a popular option among students. There are many perks that can help lighten the load for a struggling student. One of the main reasons work-study jobs are the best option is the fact that your salary will not be deducted from any scholarship or grant you may be receiving. MY IDEAL HOUSE

At first, when I thought of my future, married and have a family, I wanted to buy a big land for building my ideal house. But of course it will be step by step to build the house. We have to stay in a small house first while work hard to earn money and saving for the ideal house. The location is far, not too far from the town but I have neighbour. Because I don’t like pollution, especially sound pollution and air pollution. Although far from the town, I don’t mind because I dream to buy cars and motorcycle. So it will be easy to reach the town.

The house is a two story house with ten rooms and white color. The roof is red. From the front, the house have high hedge around so we will feel safe and when we come into, we will pass a small bridge with a little stony fishpond under the bridge. The front yard is coverred with green plants and flowers and also 2 manggo trees. There is a couple of swing too.

In the front, there is veranda. There is a garage in the left side of my house. The first room is front room with ellegant sofas and well furnished.  And then my room with a clean bath room. My room will be rather big because I’ll combine with working room. Next, there is a family room with modern television, DVD player, and sound system placed in a big table. My dinning room is behind the family room. It has a glass tile, under it is like an aquarium but placed under the dinning room. So when we are eating, we may see many gold fish under.

My first day at Haluoleo University by Rezki Aulia Hendarta

          When I was at Haluoleo University, I felt very nervous and doubt because it was the new experience for me as a university student. I felt coming in the new situation that I had not experienced before. The first thing that I saw at first day was the different situation. There were many buildings which different from my school building at senior high school. There were many students who put on free clothes. It was different from senior high school. I put on uniform when I was at senior high school. Then, I tried to recognize more detail about my new campus, even though I had been described by my seniors when I was freshmen orientation. After that, I sought my new friends who joined same class with me. I felt happy because I met many new friends. I used the first day to seek a lot of friends because I knew that there were students from various ethnics around the Southeast Sulawesi, whereas I was from Java. I was strongly interested to know and comprehend the Southeast Sulawesi culture from my new friends. I realized that I had to adapt to all of my new friends. Because I would face difficult situation next time if I did not adapt well. After we had introduced one another, we faced the first university lecture namely IIC. There were six lecturers for IIC subject. Thus, the first lecturer who gave us the first lecture was Mr.Firdaus Saleh. He explained about IIC to us. He said that IIC was the basic subject of English department curriculum and influenced our motivation. Therefore, he suggested that we had to study hard.             Sometimes, I really like reading book. I like to do it because may be the story is very popular, is a good story, and may be have many words that can help me to be able to become a writer. I like reading the story of Mahkota Cinta. This book is written by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. This book tells us about the meaning of hard work and patient. It shows us how the characters manage their time between school, work and religion, too. The main character is Zul. He is a javanesse man who want to change his life to be better in Malaysia. Beside that he also wants to find jobs. Anything he will do with the term it is not forbidden. In Malaysia, he used to manage his time between work, school and pray. Even he just sleep in unusual time, may be just 3 or 4 hours. He had a terrible day since he did not find the woman he loves, Mari. Mari is a woman who helps Zul in the ship when he was confuse about Malaysia. But after he got many explanation by his religious roommate, he could live normally again until he finished his magister program and back to Indonesia. In Indonesia he found a job and the woman and marries her. By reading this book, I realize that we really need hard work to reach success. We also must always remember to Allah who gives us everything we need to live.

Journal Writing: STUDENTS AND DEMONSTRASION

            Demonstration is the activity of university students to show to our government about the society problems. We often see some of students make a movement on the street to struggle what they think something should be forced. The idealism of university students is often society voice. But sometimes, there is something that makes them to do that without idealism or society morality. May be they do it because they are asked by someone to do demonstration and they are given money. But I think the students will feel confident or be the true student if they do demonstration. Some of students who we can recognize as the activist know about the student’s roles such as agent of control, agent of social, and agent of change. Some of them do it but always care with their study. In fact, mostly we see that they do not care with their study on campus, they just do demonstration that we do not know what they finding is while study in the university, we just guest and guest, when will they pass this university? Do they will just demonstration without thinking their parents in the village who really hope them to pass immediately? The answer comes from the activists. It is right to do demonstration with a right reason, too, but we must also remember to our school. Demonstration is good, it will be better if we are not overactive to do this activity.

           It is very important for us to learn English. Most of us know that English is an international language so we must able to understand English for the globalization. Automatically, when we want to learn something or want to express our idea to other people in the world, we must use English. That will make us so lucky if we able to use this language, our knowledge will increase and will not have problem when we study from the journal, literature, books, internet, etc. So, English is clearly very useful for us, especially in English department, we must able to understand English.

Journal Writing: My Hobbies

            There are a lot of things to do in my free time. One of them is doing something interesting or do my hobbies. My hobby is playing guitar. I like playing guitar because it is easy to play, simple and easy to understand the way to play. Fortunately, I have learnt to play it since I was in the second grade of junior high school. But I do not want to be a guitarist. It is not my idea. Play guitar just for entertaining myself. My other hobby is watching TV. I like watching  news, national and international. I love watching football match especially Barclays Premiere League. I also like watching Indonesian football but just when they play in a big league or rivaling another country. Watching culinary also often I do in my free time. I like listening to music, too. And my hobby which I do every Saturday is browsing the internet. I don’t have a modem so I go to internet café and bring my flash disk to copy necessary information. By watching and browsing the internet, I can know what I don’t know, I can be like I’m in a place of the information I get, also wider my knowledge and entertain myself.

            I have been living in Kendari city for 18 years. Now, Kendari have been developing. I still remember 10 years ago when Kendari was very different with now. There was some old buildings and the facilities were not as good as now. Now, the old buildings have change to the new and more modern. The facilities increase day to day. There are many tribes that live in Kendari, such as Munanese, Butonese, Kabaenanese, etc. But Tolakinese is the original tribe of Kendari city. Beside that, there are also many tribes from another province like Torajanese, Chinese, Javanese, Balinese, etc. There is Asma’ul Husnah Monumen. It built when Kendari have a turn to be the place for MTQ in 2006. Our government always ask their people to keep the cleanness all around the city. Kendari also have received “Adipura” because of our cleanness. Kendari city is the place of education and finding jobs for many people. Kendari has many education place. Many schools have an international standard. Many Universities, course place, and province’s library. Jobs are offered by many entrepreneurs so some people come from another place to get jobs. Kendari also have many places where we can have fun and fulfill our needs, like mall, supermarket, market, boutique, restaurant, karaoke house, swimming pool, family fishing pool, etc. I think Kendari will always develop in the future.

            In our life, we breathe oxygen. But how if the air is polluted? We must know that air pollution is happened to the air that is contaminated by other dangerous substances and disturb us in respiration and other. Air pollution source is from human activity and natural activity. Human activities are transportation, electricity generator, industry, burning activities, and the most simple is cigarette smoke. And from natural activities are volcanic, fire, and nitrification process. It can give bad influence to our respiration. The dangerous substance can reach our lung. It can cause bronchitis and asthma. It also have a big function in increasing the global warming and broke the ozone layer. It can make some plants become unhealthy. So, to anticipate it, we must keep our air to not to polluted so we can breathe well. Unless, we should keep environment by planting trees and minimize our use of things that can pollute the air like vehicles, burning tools and cigarette smoke. I think it’s not too easy but it’s not too hard, too. The most important thing is to believe and always try to anticipate it. Don’t forget that this world can be broke because of air pollution.
