Discourse Marker: Sentence Example

EXAMPLE OF ADDITIONAL
-         Community colleges offer preparation for many occupation.
-         They prepare students to transfer to a four year college or university.
When they linked be:
1.     Coordinator
Community colleges offer preparation for many occupation and they prepare students to transfer to a four year college or university.
2.     Adverbial connective
Community colleges offer preparation for many occupation in addition they prepare students to transfer to a four year college or university.

EXAMPLE OF CAUSE AND RESULT
          Cause : Burning fossil fuels causes serious damage to our planet.
          Result : We need to develop other sources of energy.
When they linked be:
1.     Coordinator

EXAMPLE OF CONTRAST
-         Last night, I though I would get up early.
-         This morning, I got up at 8 o’clock.
When they linked be:
1.     Coordinator
Last night, I though I would get up early, but this morning, I got up at 8 o’clock
2.     Subordinated
Although last night I though I would get up early, this morning, I got up at 8 o’clock.
3.     Adverbial connective
Last night, I though I would get up early, however, this morning, I got up at 8 o’clock.

EXAMPLE OF CAUSE AND RESULT
          Cause : There are many jobless in Indonesia that have low skill.
          Result : Our government face difficulties in managing them.
When they linked be:
1.     Coordinator
