            What is plastic surgery?

Plastic surgery is the branch of medical science that aims to reconstruct or repair the human body through medical operations.

republic of south korea is often called the repblic of plastic surgery because South korea is the country wich has a highest number of plastic surgery done each year in the world.

Each year, at about 200.000 foreigners come to korea to have plastic surgery.

Why do they have a plastic surgery?

most of korean people define beautyfulness  as someone who have large eyes with double eye lids, small nose with nostril, forehead with full volume or the term "small face" v-line. now with the advance of technology, even any face can be transformed.

While most korean people do not have big eyes and double eyelids. They also sometimes have a square jaw and snub noise. And they dont confident with it.

- 76 percent of Korean women in the 20 to 30 age group have undergone plastic surgery. The most popular procedure is the double eyelid surgery.

-         Most of Parents ask their children  to have a plastic surgery

- 25 percent of Korean mothers who have daughters between the ages of 12 and 16 suggested plastic surgery to their daughters. During the holiday, parents there, go to the clinic to accompany their daughter to have plastic surgery. It is also usual to parents to ask them to have plastic surgery as a birthday present or graduation present.

-         To get job

In a survey by JobKorea, the applicant is not the biggest concern on formal qualifications, but on their appearance. Student, Jay Seo said, many of his friends are thinking of plastic surgery after graduation.
- 27 percent of Korean college graduate, job seekers blame a failed interview on their looks.  28 percent of job seekers have already undergone plastic surgery (or plan to), in order to correct their appearance especially their face.

This also because korean people is more consern to their image on others, they think of first immpression that they will get, so to make a good impression at first  they start it by their appearance and do plastic surgery to make it better.

Suicide in Korea

Korea is a country with the highest suicide rate among the 33 countries members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) of which about 30 people per 100,000 people committed suicide in 2009.

Why do they suicide?

Suicides in Korea over many years starting from 1998 when there is monetary in many countries. Their business went bankrupt and there are a lot of unemployment everywhere and unstable economies make them take a shortcut that is suicide.

-         Psycologycal factor

Depression that korean people feel, is one of the factor of suicide.  It often happen to people  who fail to built their good image to others, especially the celebrities there. Some students who fail in university entrance exam also choose to suicide. Stress of economic, caused by hard competition,  also can drive them to take a shorcut to end their life.

-         Phylosophycal factor

Near half of korean people do not have religion so when they feel stress and depressed, there is no grid and guideline for them in their life, they have low respect to their life, so they choose to end their life.

And then, most of them believe to reincarnation. So in their mind, if they suicide, they will alive again in the different atmostphere.

Prevention

-        People : Put themselves in a box/ coffin. Some people suggest others who want to suicide to stay in a coffin for some days. This will give good impact that After staying in a coffin, before ending their life, they will probably not suicide because in the coffin, they think and realize that they really love their family, their life and be motivated to continue their life.

Kang Kyung-ah, a professor of nursing at the Sahmyook University held a seminar, said the people  could feel the benefits of being in a coffin and appreciate life because of the high rate of suicide in their current age.

-        Government : expand and promote counseling program for people with stress and depression. One of the counseling is 24hours telephone lines.

Conclution

-         We shouldn’t follow their negative phenomenom.

 may be in Korea, plastic surger is a common thing, but of course we have different perspective from them. we should appreciate them.
