As one of nonverbal
communication, touch also takes important role in communication even
culturally. Sometimes we need a purposive touch while speaking. In culture,
there are some rule what to touch and what forbidden to be touched. Shaking
hand is the most common touch in culture but different culture will define contrast
to each other. In united states, shaking with wet hand can be considered as
nervous. In korea, people touch their forearm with their left hand while shake
hands. Fijians greet each other with a smile and raised eyebrows, but a
handshake is acceptable. Men should wait for Filipino women to extend their
hands. Men may also pat one another on the back. Tahitians usually kiss each
other on the cheek when meeting. The French shake hands and often kiss cheeks
in greeting others too.
